Women haven’t suddenly become aware of PUA methods. Depending on how it is defined, women’s awareness of it goes back hundreds or thousands of years.

I think what makes PUA tricks kinda, sorta, work is that very many women have scruples against using someone just for sex. For a woman who just wants to get laid, a PUA clearly signals that he isn’t worth worrying about. He volunteers to be used and discarded, so why not? I don’t blame them, but this is what keeps the PUA tricks credible in men’s eyes.

What the PUA doesn’t get, of course, is any kind of connection or chance of a relationship. So men who are looking for a partner should probably stay away from PUA methods. Unfortunately, they often believe those to be their only chance. And women can’t opt out of that. Recognizing the PUA doesn’t help, they still need to kiss the frog in order to find out if a real man is hiding there.
